CAOO supports Veterans in the USCA National Championship Sprint Races
Cape Ability Outrigger Ohana, Inc. was proud to support the participation of three military veterans in the United States Canoe Association National Championship Sprint Races held on the Connecticut River in Northfield, Massachusetts on Thursday, August 11, 2016. CAOO provided boats and other equipment free of charge to the veterans who had participated in Disabled Sports USA chapter Paracanoe programs. Derrick Mertowski (CAOO) and Dave Nichols (Adaptive Sports Foundation) respectively earned silver and bronze medals in this event. CAOO President Jan Whitaker introduced the veterans to the sport of Paracanoe.
20th Annual Rochester River Challenge
Team up with six other friends, family members or business associates with or without disabilities and come celebrate 20 years of outrigger canoe sprint racing for paddlers of all abilities in Rochester. No experience is necessary. All equipment is provided along with a steersman for the canoes. The River Challenge is CAOO’s main fun(d) raising event of the year. Proceeds help support CAOO’s programs for individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
Pierce Medals in World Championships!
Congratulations to Anja Pierce who placed 3rd in the Women’s V1 L3 Class in the 2016 International Canoe Federation Sprint World Championships in Duisburg, Germany on May 19, 2016.
